Five artists shown in «Nature’s Conversation»

Refugees into Nature (2024), the latest series of works incorporating photography, sculpture and painting by Francesca Marti

At Galerie Ysebaert in Sint-Martens-Latem near Bruges in Belgium, the group exhibition Nature’s Conversation features recent nature-themed works by Francesca Marti, Steven Peters Caraballo, Arne Quinze, Koen Vanmechelen and Tomas Zemla. Curated by Annelies Ysebaert, the show includes four of Marti’s new works from her series Refugees into Nature, in which groups of small Believers sculptures interact with outsized leaves. Painted in hues of copper, green, gold and brown, some of the small figures in the series Refugees into Nature hide in the shadows, while others walk across the filigree paper surface of enlarged leaves. A single leaf becomes an entire landscape, habitat and ecosystem. As always, Martí’s work explores the themes of migration, fragility and equilibrium, while focusing on the role of the individual in the broader world.
The exhibition in Belgium also features Marti’s large sculpture Dreamer – Alpha Virginis in polished aluminium.
