Several new large-scale sculptures and photo-installations by Francesca Marti’ are currently on show in the gallery space at Gerhardt Braun Art Lab in Carrer de Sant Feliu in downtown Palma. Made from cast and polished aluminium, and partly coated in pink lacquer, Ma’at (2018) represents the Egyptian goddess of truth, justice and cosmic order, wrapped in a shroud, seated on a chair and holding a faun. Meanwhile, a larger-than-life edition of the sculpture Dreamer – Antares (2022) in mirror-polished aluminium is flanked by two of Marti’s monumental photo installations in perspex boxes. These two photo-based works are made from groups of small Believers figures walking over the faces of vintage store-mannequins: From the Ashes (2020), 150x300x10cms divided in eight perspex boxes, and Venus (2021), 150x150x10cms.
