The new 128-page full-colour catalogue for Francesca Marti’s Transformation retrospective at the Danubiana Meulensteen Art Museum in Bratislava, is currently being printed and bound in Palma by Imprenta Bahia. The catalogue has been stylishly designed by hastalasantas graphic design, with essays by the two exhibition curators Pilar Ribal (Mallorca) and Kees van Twist (The Netherlands), plus additional texts by Gerard Meulensteen (Amsterdam), Dieter Ronte (Bonn), Juanjo Oliva Gallardo (Barcelona), Mercedes Estarellas (Palma) and Jonathan Turner (Rome/Sydney). The catalogue, partly sponsored by the Balearic Island Government, closely follows the themes and subjects explored by Marti’ in her forthcoming retrospective, featuring more than 100 works produced from 2000 until «yesterday». These works span the period from her early photographs and sculptures from The fly series, right up to her most recent Flight and Ma’at performance videos. The brightly coloured spots appearing on the catalogue cover echo the circular forms of the recycled satellite dishes painted by the artist in iridescent automotive lacquers, and used in her multi-media installations. They also match the bold colours of the architecture of the museum building itself, constructed in Bratislava on the banks of the Danube River.
Transformation at the Danubiana Meulensteen Art Museum in Slovakia runs from November 25, 2017 through March 11, 2018
